DREADLOCK INSTALLATION

To install dreadlocks I use a backcombing method with a felting technique on most hair types that gives long-lasting real-looking dreads that tighten up over time. I do not use wax, as it can attract mold, lint and dirt in the dreads. Hair must be at least 3-4 inches long, and for best results 5 inches or longer to start.
DREADLOCK MAINTENANCE
I also do maintenance on existing dreads using twisting, felting and crocheting to minimize fuzzy new growth and tighten roots. All hair types welcome.

Margot’s Dreadlock Journey
I had a couple friends put the dreads in for me in 2007 and have been maintaining them on my own ever since. I use clockwise root rubbing, a crochet hook and palm rolling after washing with baking soda and vinegar, Avalon organic tea tree shampoo or Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap. Decorations are yarn and beads.
